Is India wasting money in Cricket?

I think "YES"!

I know many "die-hard" fans of Cricket in India will burn me alive for this statement! :-)
But actually, I think yes! India is wasting money on Cricket!

Cricket is not even our National Game. We got it from England and we are focusing so much of valuable resources on it! When we say there are many Indians without food, shelter, proper clothing, etc., then why should we "waste" money in Cricket? That too when we dont win all the time! Oh yea of course I know that India won Australia in recent matches and thats what many Indians are proud of now..

But, my question is does China play Cricket? Japan? Those are making economic progress like anything! Aren't they? Why are we wasting so much money on a 'game'? that too of 'Foreign Origin'? Oh yea, we always welcome everything and encourage everything! But we should first see whats more important! Food or entertainment? Economy or world cup?

I am really wondering does Cricket give some kind of revenue to our Country? Anything to do with our progress in Economy? Even if its going to do so, say, by these advertisements, etc., I 'feel' that if we calculate the total amount of money spent in preparation for these matches, in coaching the players, in traveling, etc., etc., would exceed the amount gained.

Of course, there are some good 'side-effects' because of cricket like providing employment to many people who are involved. Again, when considering the bad side-effects like
1. Ppl wasting lot of time in watching these matches.
2. Productivity of working ppl is reduced during cricket matches since they constantly go out for checking scores.
3. Cricket fans getting too much involved in the matches and attempting suicide or things like that..
and so on, again I am drawn towards the conclusion that Cricket is waste of time and money.

Yes of course, its a means of entertainment and people do need entertainments for a peaceful and enjoyable life. Actually, I am not totally against it. But I think its given more importance than what it really deserves!!

Its our responsibility to check whether its right or not when something is taking away a lot of our resources. We should be deciding what we want considering all the factors. And I think We don't need to give so much importance to Cricket when we have so many other burning issues which need immediate attention. We should have some focused strategy to improve our economy. A real focused one! Then only we can see immediate progress!

Caste reservation system in India is actually degrading the Backward Community!

Yes. This reservation system prevailing in India is actually degrading the "so-called" Backward Community (BCs, MBCs, SCs, STs.. What so ever!).

Once upon a time, (its not during my life-time! So I duno when..) these so-called BCs were dominated and deprived of their rights. And in the name of improving their lifestyle, the government is actually re-enacting the same drama and this time, the victims being OCs (or the "so-called" Forward Community) ..

But actually speaking, are the BCs gaining anything because of this caste reservation? Are they really improving?
I guess not!

Right form the schools, colleges, offices, hospitals, etc, etc., they have seats or places reserved for them. If a student belonging to BC scores 30% he is pass. But a student belong to OC has to score 50% to pass. Whats the use?
The main aim was to impart knowledge and education to the backward community so that they can improve and move forward in their lives. Now, if Govt is going to say its enough if you learn this much - that much which is sufficient to score just 30%, is it going to improve his knowledge?

The point is everyone should be given the chance to study. But, going further to choose the profession they want, depends on their skills and capacity. If the Govt says, a student belonging to BC or MBC or whatever can score 30% and get a seat in Medical college, where as, a student from OC should strive to get 99.9999% to get the same seat, the BC students are not going to take it seriously at all! And such a student who enters Medical college just because of this reservation system is going to ruin the lives of many patients for sure! He can always get things because of his caste!

If the Govt says that the student is not scoring more because he is from Backward community, then now the Govt is now actually making the discrimination based on caste! Instead of eradicating such a foolish concept, it is reinforcing the same on us!
Do we help a student to copy and pass the exam if he has not studied? Dont you think its foolish?

And above all, What does this reservation system imply? Why is the Government branding that students from the Backward Community are all dumb or idiots? And that they can only score 30% or 40%? Why is the Govt preventing the students from Backward community to study? The Govt is actually degrading the backward community and makes their brains lazy! It is ruining their brains!!

What it should have done is to create opportunity for providing education for all - Not based on caste but may be the financial status! The process should have been made such that it should be impossible to produce fake Salary certificates and enter the schools.
The financially backward community should be given free education! And whats more important is that the education in the govt schools should be of a quality comparable with the private schools.

You can only give chance to all. Chance favors only trained minds! The entrance to professional courses should be purely on merit basis! Only those who really qualify should enter for the professional courses. And of course, then only can they complete it successfully!

In the name of doing good to the backward community, the politicians are actually ruining their lives and pushing them into the deep graveyard by corrupting their brains! The Govt is doing no good by this caste reservation system.

And because of this, it is actually sharpening the brains of the OCs. And when the above average students of OCs do not get their seats in Educational institutions here, they go to foreign countries to get better quality education. And what do you expect from them? To come back and stand in the queue to find a job here? To be pushed back somewhere because of they belong to Forward Community?
Every one has the right to live man! They choose to settle in foreign countries where their merit is recognized! Where their knowledge is respected! And this is how all the "Brain-Drain" starts..
Its all in the hands of Govt to stop all such nonsense happening to our Country!

And the BCs in fact should realize what is happening to their community and should not accept that they are Dumb and Idiots. Thats what is the Govt saying through the reservation system. They should prove their capacity by working hard and being more competent rather than sitting lazily and taking the opportunity which they actually do not deserve!!
